Who is behind this endeavor?
My name is Ann Ryan
Homeschooling my children wasn't my original plan at all. However, natural learning and normal developmental stages were ignored and creativity squashed in our local school. So here I am, 18+ years later, definitely with more gray hair, but wiser and happy with our choices.
While 3 of my children have always homeschooled, one attended school thru 6th grade because that's how he learned best. He also chose to attend an in person charter for high school where he graduated in 2024.
Experiencing education from "both sides of the fence" has allowed me unique perspectives and definite ideas about how children need individual education methods and plans, however that may look for each child.
We are eclectic secular homeschoolers. I may be my children's teacher (mostly a guide/facilitator), but I learn new things each year right along with them.
I am also a professional Independent Educational Consultant (certification thru UC, Irvine) and certified California Naturalist.
In my spare time (ha!) I love to read, browse bookstores, explore nature, and check out tide pools.
